Making a Difference

WHAT WILL DCCMF DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

University students need a secure place, where they will be able to meet and come together and be involved in positive activities, away from the risks of drug and excessive alcohol use. A supportive community within the immediate area of campus will be able to provide this place of refuge and encourage the development of students.

Phil Sanders, minister for the Concord Road church in Brentwood, TN, advises Spiritual training is not entertainment and activities, though some programs provide that. Spiritual training includes serious Bible study, memorization, and involvement in the service of the Lord. Bible study is heavily emphasized in our ministry.

The Delaware Christian Campus Ministry Foundation desires to participate and work together with the Blue Hens for Christ in a way that will provide funds, facilities, and services in support of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the campuses. We believe the Blue Hens for Christ campus ministry delivers on the admonition offered above by Mr. Sanders. The campus ministry encourages evangelism, looking to reach outside their comfort zones and show Gods love to students outside of traditional circles.

The Foundations primary goal will be to provide that dependable place where students can be in community without resorting to expensive social events or to the party scene on campus. Since we are geographically located in Newark, DE, the University of Delaware and surrounding colleges such as Wilmington University, Goldey Beacom College, Delaware Technical Community College, etc., are the likely places to inaugurate our program for campus ministries. With a student center we have purchased that is on the edge of the University of Delaware campus, we provide a secure and convenient place for students and a refuge from the busy campus community. The student center is located near dormitories, the main library, and two campus student activity centers. The Foundation supplies much needed privacy within the campus environment.

The student center will serve as a place for the students to meet together, hold devotions, study Bible, use computers, study for class, or just simply hang out. It will also be a location for holding social events and fellowship on several nights of the week, and be a free or inexpensive alternative to the party scene. It serves as a retreat from cramped dormitory space.

Other goals, whether physical, financial, or spiritual, will be integral with the campus ministry in helping students keep their connection with Christ or help provide the pathway to their salvation through Jesus Christ. We will offer opportunities for mission work, service activities, and learning experiences through scholarships, seminars and Bible lectureships.

The Campus Ministers office, located at the Student Center, results in a geographically convenient place for the student to come for Christian counseling and advice.
